November 1—“Accidental Saints”
In morning worship on November 1 we will pause to remember the saints in our FBC family who have died in the last year. We will celebrate their influence on our lives and give thanks for the many ways they have helped to shape our faith.
At Modern Vespers that evening, however, we will spend time celebrating a different kind of saint; those accidental saints who aren’t quite as polished and put together as we would sometimes like them to be. We will stop to acknowledge the reality that we are all simultaneously sinner and saint 100% of both, 100% of the time. “Never once did Jesus scan the room for the best example of holy living and send that person out to tell others about him. He always sent stumblers and sinners.”* May we find comfort in this all-embracing grace as we worship together. *Nadia Bolz-Weber, Accidental Saints: Finding God in All the Wrong People
November 15—“M3: Missions, Music, and Meditation”
In this Modern Vespers service we will hear from three of our missions partners, lift our voices in praise together, and spend time in quiet reflection considering our role in God’s Mission.Following worship, in the Fellowship Hall, we will gather for our annual Boys’ Missions Pie Night! You will also have the chance to get a jumpstart on your Christmas shopping. Our Missions Partners, Ekata and Peace of Thread, will have their handmade treasures for sale at a Christmas Marketplace.
