Rev. Mary Kaylor came to serve First Baptist Church of Memphis as
Minister to Children and Families in January, 2015. A native of New Bern, North
Carolina, Mary has a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and a Master of Business
Administration degree from Campbell University in Buies Creek, North Carolina
and a Master of Divinity degree from McAfee School of Theology in Atlanta,
After graduating from McAfee, Mary served with Cooperative
Baptist Fellowship Field Personnel in Pune, India through Student.Go. While in
India she worked as an English tutor to Banjara Gypsy children. Having never
been out of the United States before this, Mary found India to be a complete
departure from anything she was used to and fell in love with the country and
its people. She can't wait to get back and travel more throughout the country.
Mary was ordained to the Gospel Ministry in 2013 by First Baptist Church, New Bern, North Carolina.
In serving with First Baptist’s children and families, Mary
feels a call to teach children what it means to be the hands and feet of Christ
in our world and how to live this out. You are never too young to start
practicing your faith. Mary wants to provide opportunities, for all ages, to
identify their gifts and find ways to serve God’s people.
An admitted pop culture addict, Mary loves everything
related to movies and music. Nothing is too weird or out there for her! She
also enjoys reading, junking/antiquing, baking, and playing with her dog, Binx.
